Newcastle Disease Virus Test Detects avian paramyxovirus type 1 (APMV-1), including pigeon strains

Sample types accepted:
-Oral swab (overnight shipping recommended)

Acceptable, but not most accurate:
-Dried feces- standard shipping is fine

Newcastle Disease is a highly contagious and often fatal viral infection affecting a wide range of birds, from poultry to parrots to pigeons.

This PCR test detects avian paramyxovirus type 1 (APMV-1) — the virus responsible for all forms of Newcastle Disease, including Pigeon Paramyxovirus-1 (PPMV-1). 
 
What it detects: 
All strains of APMV-1, including velogenic, mesogenic, and lentogenic forms 
PPMV-1 infections in pigeons and doves 
 
Used for screening, outbreak confirmation, and routine flock health checks 
 
Species Supported: Chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, Pigeons and doves, Parrots, macaws, cockatoos Emus, ostriches, ratites, Wild or rescued birds  
 
Results are typically available within 48 business hours of sample arrival.

Important Notes: Velogenic NDV is federally reportable – positive results must be reported to your State Department of Agriculture or the USDA
This test does not confirm strain virulence — additional testing is required to differentiate lentogenic from virulent forms
