Pigeon Herpesvirus (PiHV)
Detect latent and active infections with confidence.
What is PiHV?
Pigeon Herpesvirus (PiHV) is a contagious DNA virus that often remains hidden in carrier birds. It is part of the herpesvirus family, meaning it can lay dormant and reactivate during periods of stress, illness, or overcrowding. While some pigeons may never show signs, PiHV is a known co-factor in major health issues, especially when combined with other infections like circovirus, trichomonas, or E. coli.
