Last Updated: 5/14/2025 In this section we answer the most common questions about our disease testing services. Question: What kind of sample do I need for disease testing? Answer: Each test will require a specific sample to be collected. Most commonly, a blood sample, or buccal, tracheal, or cloacal swab will be indicated. You may not substitute one type for another. Testing requires very specific sample types and volumes. Question: Why do some directions specify overnight or expedited shipping with cold packs? Answer: Certain tests, like antigen tests need the sample to be cold upon arrival to prevent the breakdown of important disease markers within the sample. Please make sure you follow directions for collection, storing, and shipping cold chain materials properly. DO NOT PACK IN DRY ICE. Freezing samples can also damage the materials.
